How It Works

Xm Satellite Radio

In 1992, the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (Fcc) allocated a spectrum in the "S" band (2.3 Ghz) for nationwide broadcasting of satellite-based Digital Audio Radio aid (Dars). Of the four companies that applied for licenses, only two were granted rights to broadcast; Sirius (formerly Cd Radio) and Xm (formerly American movable Radio). Each enterprise has satellites in orbit above the earth to forward their programming. Programs are beamed to one of the satellites, which then transmits the signal to the ground, where your radio receiver picks up one of the channels within the signal. Signals are also be beamed to ground repeaters for listeners in urban areas where the satellite signal can be interrupted.

In many ways, Sirius has set the tone for the industry, being the first to offer commercial free programming on all its music channels and has larger option of receivers, adapters and other products. Xm has a economy subscription fee, at least for its basic plan, which offers much the same fare as its competitor.

Both providers have partnered with automobile manufacturers to offer satellite radio in new car models. And each has systems that will hunt the channels for your favorite music and alert you when and where the songs are playing. Selecting between the two companies can be difficult since each has its advantages. Here is some data that may help listeners choose between the two.

Xm Radio

Xm satellite radio offers 68 commercial-free music channels, 33 news, sports, and talk & entertainment channels and 21 dedicated traffic and weather channels. Xm is the exclusive satellite radio victualer of Fox Sports Radio, Sporting News Radio and the world's only 24-hour Nascar Radio channel. It does not offer Nfl programming.

Equipment

Xm has any choices in equipment. For just under 0, you can get the Delphi Xm Roady receiver. This unblemished package comes with a micro-antenna, cassette adaptor, 12V power adaptor, and a universal mounting bracket. For an additional one , you can upgrade to the Roady2, proclaimed as the smallest satellite receiver available. Sirius satellite radio offers 65 channels of commercial free music, plus more than 50 channels of great sports, news and entertainment programming. They are the only one of the two competitors to offer Nfl coverage, along with play-by-play operation and pre-game gab.

Equipment

Siruis offers a host of tool options. Customers can choose from over 15 plug and play options. Midpoint receivers sell for .95 and can be combined with a car or home adapter, or a option of separate boomboxes. For the same .95, the Sirius Sportster adds special features for the sports enthusiast such as Game Alert, which prompts you when your favorite Nfl or other sports teams are playing and Game Zone, which lists all of the play-by-play games and scores on Sirius by league.

Or for 9.99 you can cover all your listening needs with the Sanyo Crsr-10 Plug & Play System. It includes home and car kits for use at home, office, truck, Rv, boat or car and antennas for home and car. It has 20 presets and a built-in wireless Fm transmitter for use on all 100 Fm frequencies. If a boombox is not your style, you can go with a home law that integrates with you existing audio equipment. Prices range from 0 up to 00.

You can put a headunit in your car, throw in a tuner and antenna and you're wired for satellite in your vehicle without the movable receiver and adapter. Sirius has over 15 headunits to choose from in prices ranging from under 0 to over 00. Some of the more reasonably priced units come with Cd players and movable fronts.

Satellite radio appears to be here to stay. Move your music effortlessly between car, home, or office.

An easy-to-read, six-line, 2.7-inch multi-color display helps keep tabs on the channel name and number, category, artist name, song title, and time simultaneously. The receiver also lets you program up to 30 presets of your favorite streams, as well as search by stream, artist name, song title, or category. And with a quick press of the one-touch jump button, you can instantly switch between traffic and weather reports for your city and any of your preset music, news, or entertainment channels. Other programming details include an S-Seek function that stores your favorite artists and songs and alerts you when one is playing on any of the music channels, direct station tuning via the numeric buttons, and a channel lock option. Time functions include an onscreen clock, alarm, and sleep timer, as well as a program alert that allows the unit to switch to a preprogrammed stream at a selected time.

The Sportster 5 really earns its stripes, however, with its variety of enhanced features designed specifically for sports lovers. The Game Alert feature prompts you when your favorite NFL or other sports teams are playing on Sirius. Simply set an empty FM frequency on your radio and tune the Sportster 5 to the same frequency. This function also works with other FM tuners, such as the one on your home stereo, but is easily paired with the car thanks to the bundled vehicle kit, which includes everything you need for listening to Sirius while driving. Parents also have control over channels and channel lockout. Measuring just 9.5 x 7.5 x 3 inches, the Sportster 5 weighs a mere 3.7 ounces.

Hello and welcome to yet another chapter of the Flaw Series. Now I know what you're thinking. "Didn't he already make a farewell video?" Yes I did, but I never expected such a great response from you guys. I knew I wanted to quit, but it didn't feel right ending it with a thrown together video. So I decided to make another vid to express my gratitude. I gotta say this movie has proven more difficult to make than any other movie. I must have rendered it at least 10 times with constant errors. Anyone who has rendered a movie can tell you, its a very long process and very frustrating when it doesn't work. That being said, there is a brief moment where the screen goes black, but after the constant errors I was getting, I was just happy it finally finished. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- What to expect : Battleground Footage... I tried for hours to get world pvp footage, but my server is even more dead than ever. The handful of people I did find simply let me kill them and were more concerned with their dailys. I figured the only way to get any entertaining fights were in BG's. That being said, I tried to only show clips of me and me only, no team assistance, to make it as close to world pvp as possible. What not to expect: Duels... They are extremely one sided right now and not even slightly entertaining in my honest opinion. You don't want to see me reset the fight with vanish and recuperate until I win trust me. Arenas ...
